Your accommodation for the next days is the Melia Serengeti lodge – a contemporary luxury lodge in prime location of the central side of the Park. The location is arguably the best spot for cheetah and lions sightings in Tanzania. It’s a best kept secret with superlative access to an ncredible game viewing all year around. Comprising only eight luxury, tented suites, your exclusively personal setting provides for a memorable wilderness adventure. Each spacious safari tent offers its own indoor sitting area where you’re invited to relax through the day and gaze across the star-filled sky at night. Elegant furnishings have been chosen from custom-made Indian rugs, crisp linens, cozy duvets, bathrobes and include eco-friendly, reclaimed wood crafted by local artisans and carpenters in Arusha.

After breakfast check out and transfer to Serengeti airstrip for a flight to Zanzibar. Flight is approximately 2,5 hrs including a short stopover in Arusha. Upon arrival at Zanzibar airport private pick up and transfer to your beach hotel.

Some time spent on the exotic spice island of Zanzibar is often added in a bush and beach safari vacation. Zanzibar is an archipelago which forms part of Tanzania. Most people know the two main islands, Unguja often called Zanzibar and Pemba Island. Zanzibar is steeped in culture and history. It is a melting pot of people and cultures which gave rise to the Swahili culture.

The island of Zanzibar made its reputation through the growing of spices like cloves and nutmeg, cinnamon and pepper. Visitors can enjoy tours of a spice plantation while visiting the island. Spend some time exploring Stone Town.

Stone Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site which has a long history. The labyrinth of winding alleyways and bustling marketplaces. The town is a fusion of Arabic and African cultures among others which gave rise to Swahili culture. The town is known for its beautiful intricately carved wooden doorways, beautiful mosques and residences. The Island was heavily involved in the slave trade, and visitors can visit the old slave market where a poignant monument can be found.

Most of the sandy white palm-fringed beaches which visitors dream of occur in the north of the island. Another major attraction is the Jozani Forest Reserve, Zanzibar’s only national park which is home to the rare Kirks red colobus monkey and Ader’s duiker.

After an early breakfast you’ll be picked up by our staff and transferred to Arusha Airport for a scheduled flight to Northern Serengeti. Every year, the famous Serengeti Migration reaches the Northern Serengeti, lured by fresh medium size  grasses, the protagonist- Wildebeest and Zebra usually arrive from end of June and stay until October, a period characterised by epic river crossings as thousands of animals take a plunge into Crocodile infested Mara River, resident-carnivores take the fills, the chaos and dramas make it the world’s most unique wildlife event.

To optimise your migration watching we have 3 nights stay in this region, this will increase your luck to witness this rare spectacle as we explore the plains, rive rines, south and north side of the river to immerse in the last and biggest movement of land mammals in the world. Other common species easily seen includes Topi, Elephants, Leopard, Lions, Jackals, Hippos , Crocodile, Girrafe, several birds of preys as well a myriad of song birds.

Your accommodation Nimali Camp is a luxury camp situated close to where the wildebeest herds make their annual journey in search of greener pasture. The Camp offers a rejuvenating sanctuary amid the wilds of the Serengeti.

Settle into a beautifully appointed tent and feel the rhythms of the savannah infuse the canvas as life takes on a different beat.

The total indoor living area of each guest tent is a generous 50 square metres, with a spacious bedroom in the centre, a lounge area wing and a bathroom wing, plus an outdoor private verandah.

Today you will explore the world’s famous Ngorongoro Crater. We suggest you leave early in the morning to experience the crater’s wildlife at their most active state. We advise you to dress warmly as it might get chilly here at this time of year on an altitude of 2000 meters above sea level

Being one of the highlights of an East African safari. The crater is the largest intact caldera in the World, which was formed by a huge ancient volcano. This creates a breathtakingly beautiful setting for some of the highest densities of wildlife in Africa. As one of the most renowned natural wonders in Africa, it can get busy with visitors and its not uncommon to have many vehicles on a lion sighting. For this reason, the number of vehicles in the park is limited, and you can only drive in one direction through the park.

Around 3 million years ago, this was formed when a giant volcano exploded and collapsed creating the caldera which today creates one of the most famous settings for a safari on the planet. With a growing population of Black Rhino and host to the Big Five as well as some of Africa’s last Big Tusker Elephants. The crater is also home to good populations of lion, leopard and hyena along with healthy herds of wildebeest, buffalo and zebra. Other wildlife here includes serval cat, cheetah, jackal, Grant’s and Thompson’s gazelle and flocks of flamingos.

The whole area forms a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to the diversity and density of wildlife which occurs there. Archaeological research at Laetoli has uncovered the first evidence of bipedalism and finds in the Olduvai Gorge have been instrumental in studying the development of early hominin species, including early man. Late afternoon ascend the Crater walls again and drive outside the Conservation Area to the host property for the night.

You will stay overnight in the casual luxury Serena Lodge located on the rim of the Crater. Nestled high above the plains into the Crater’s jagged rim, cloaked in river stone and indigenous vines, Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge is barely visible to the naked eye. Rooms are looped around the Crater rim. Each has its own rock-enclosed balcony, and all enjoy completely uninterrupted views of the volcanic amphitheater far below.

Don’t miss out a stroll through the Ngorongoro Forest with an indigenous Maasai healer, who will point out the more than 20 medicinal plants used at the Osero Clinic, the farm’s healthcare centre.

Sadly, all good things must come to an end and today will be your last day in Tanzania – for now.

According to your flight schedule you will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to Zanzibar Airport.

We wish you a safe jouney back home and hope to welcome you back soon.
